Top 5 rugs of the Fall 2020 Collection
December 20, 2020
The Fall 2020 collection is made up of Moroccan rugs that have arrived over the last couple of months and some are still trickling in little by little.
Part of the impetus for this restock was the launch of The Rug Shop, Kantara's first rug showroom! All of a sudden I have a lot more space to fill with beautiful rugs and textiles from Morocco. Which means that in the coming year I'll be sourcing a variety of rugs from all over Morocco, and custom designing quite a few new rugs for the collection.
In the meantime, here are some of our favorites from the newest batch.
1. Art deco Moroccan rug from Boujaad
The beauty of this rug is in its many transformations. The gradient of greens on one end gives way to a spectrum of pinks and purples on the other end. The designs shift between squares and diamonds, filled in with a bubblegum pink that makes this rug pop. This rug is a vintage piece and a true work of art.

I love the modernity of this rug. It takes the classic Beni Ourain style and turns it inside out. The bold, white lines traverse across a foreground that is filled in with an ombré of black and charcoal grey wool.

3. Vintage tangerine Moroccan area rug
This vintage Moroccan rug comes to us in the most beautiful of tangerine colors. The diamond designs repeat across the rug. Some of the diamonds are filled in with faded reds, others are the inverse, and still other diamonds fade into the foreground. This rug will thrive in a room that gets a lot of sunshine!

For folks that love neutral rugs, this one fits the ticket. At the same time, the little pops of color in blues and pinks add an elegant splash of character to the rug. The colors and design of this Azilal-style rug make for a well-balanced, stylish, and quite calming Moroccan rug.
View details5. Vintage Moroccan rug with Georgia O'Keeffe medallion
Every time I see this rug, the medallion in the middle reminds me of one of Georgia O'Keeffe's painterly flowers. This oval design is a rare shape in Moroccan rugs where the shapes are often defined by straight and angular lines. This rug is both traditional and one-of-a-kind. Traditional in terms of its layout, where the medallion lies within a well-defined border. Beyond that, though, this rug is truly unique, especially in terms of its slight asymmetry and the yin-yang oblong oval in the middle.
