Overview:

A unique piece, this Moroccan flatweave kilim is made from handspun goats' hair. The goats hair is more wiry than sheeps wool, which is why rugs made with goats hair tend to be quite sturdy. It makes these rugs great options for mudrooms or high traffic rooms in the house.

Most of the goats wool in this rug is undyed, and comes directly from black, brown, and white goats, which we see in the alternating striped bands. The only parts that are dyed are the two sections with the diamond checkerboard design in orange and burgundy. This is an older piece that is fraying a bit at one end and shows signs that it has been patched up before. Thanks to the quality of the goats' hair, the rug is in great condition in spite of its age.
