Overview:
This large flatweave rug is a vintage piece made in the Tifelt style. Originating in Morocco's Middle Atlas mountains, these rugs always seem to elevate the spaces they're placed in. They blend in well with other design elements in the room. But when you get close, you notice that they are highly detailed pieces with hundreds of tiny designs woven throughout. This piece would look great against a light or blonde colored floor, or you can go in the opposite direction, with a darker floor. Fill up your living room space with this rug, or place it under the bed. It would also make a good dining room rug as it's quite durable and easy to clean up.

Moroccan rugs are heirloom pieces that age well and are embedded with the living histories of the weavers, the symbols of their tribal regions, and the markings of both traditional and modern rug designs. Each tribal region in Morocco boasts its own weaving style- from modern black and white Beni Ourain rugs in the north, to the colorful and abstract Azilal high pile rugs, to the low pile rugs of the southern Ait Ouaouzguite region. While the process of weaving is the same throughout Morocco, the colors, textures, and patterns vary greatly from one region to the next. The artisans we work with are skilled at creating hand-knotted, thicker pile rugs, as well as weaving geometric Moroccan kilims, boucherouite rag rugs, and double-sided handira wedding blankets. The results of this are colorful, eclectic, and bohemian rugs that are perfect for any home — from throw rugs to hallway runners to area living room rugs.
