Overview:

This rug is a typical Kharita rug, which is named after the wavy, organic patterns. In Arabic, "Kharita" means map, and it is said that these rugs represent a map of the land. The weave structure on these rugs is unique in that these rugs are reversible -- you see the same pattern on either side of the rug. While most Kharita rugs are made with an eclectic palette of colors, this one is made with navy blue, grey, and natural white wool. This flatweave rug was made by a cooperative of artisans that plays on traditional designs perfected within the Glaoui tribe's weaving traditions.
