Overview:

This vintage Moroccan rug is such an elegant treasure. It's a hand-knotted pile rug that has been worn down in some areas but shaggier in other areas. We love it when rugs offer this type of textural quality. With a thick border around the rug and a tessellating honeycomb diamond design in the center medallion, this rug feels quite traditional at first blush. But then you see the abstract figure towards the top of the rug (-- a tea kettle, perhaps?) and it only adds to the artistic quality of this piece. While the faded purple color is the first thing you notice, once you start looking closer, you find all sorts of other colors peppered throughout -- light pink, sky blue, dark green, and pastel yellows. This piece would do well as a living room pièce de résistance.

Gorgeous Rugs!

During a recent trip to Morocco, I met Alia the founder of Kantara. She was so passionate about the women that weave these intricate and beautiful rugs. So after I returned home, I decided to explore the site and make a purchase. I had no need of a new rug but I was inspired to make a purchase. When the rug arrived I was so pleased! It was more beautiful than it looked on the website and every time I walk into my kitchen, I'm happy just looking at it. Maybe I will get another rug I don't need because there is something very special about these Moroccan rugs!

Gorgeous purple Moroccan Rug!

I absolutely love this purple rug that Alia designed and had her artisans in Morocco make. It is plush on one side so that you can use the two sides for different seasons if desired.
