This kharita rug features wavy, organic designs in the middle of the rug that take on a more desert-toned color palette. The interior contrasts with the tan border, which helps to frame the artistry within. Kharita rugs are from the Ait Ouaouzguite tribal region in Morocco and are known as "map" rugs, said to be a map of the land. The weave structure on these rugs is unique in that these rugs are reversible -- you see the same pattern on either side of the rug. A rug this size would look great next to a bed, at the foot of a bed, in a kitchen, office space, or in an entranceway.

Thanks to our longstanding relationship with these highly skilled Moroccan artisans, we are able to curate and design authentic rugs and pillows that both preserve the ancient weaving traditions and add a modern touch.
Moroccan rugs are heirloom pieces that age well and are embedded with the living histories of the weavers, the symbols of their tribal regions, and the markings of both traditional and modern rug designs. Each tribal region in Morocco boasts its own weaving style- from modern black and white Beni Ourain rugs in the north, to the colorful and abstract Azilal high pile rugs, to the low pile rugs of the southern Ait Ouaouzguite region. While the process of weaving is the same throughout Morocco, the colors, textures, and patterns vary greatly from one region to the next. The artisans we work with are skilled at creating hand-knotted, thicker pile rugs, as well as weaving geometric Moroccan kilims, boucherouite rag rugs, and double-sided handira wedding blankets. The results of this are colorful, eclectic, and bohemian rugs that are perfect for any home — from throw rugs to hallway runners to area living room rugs.
