Overview:
This medium-sized Moroccan rug is full of life. Most of the rug is filled with checkered boxes of various sizes in white, slate grey, and neon pink. As the pattern moves through the piece, the boxes become gradually distorted before they elongate into abstract rectangular shapes. While the pattern is playful, the rug remains grounded, thanks to its rich burgundy red base. This would be a great piece for a smaller living room or at the foot of the bed. Also consider placing this rug in a kid's room as the dense patterning makes it a more forgiving rug if there are spills or accidents.

Moroccan rugs are heirloom pieces that age well and are embedded with the living histories of the weavers, the symbols of their tribal regions, and the markings of both traditional and modern rug designs. Each tribal region in Morocco boasts its own weaving style- from modern black and white Beni Ourain rugs in the north, to the colorful and abstract Azilal high pile rugs, to the low pile rugs of the southern Ait Ouaouzguite region. While the process of weaving is the same throughout Morocco, the colors, textures, and patterns vary greatly from one region to the next. The artisans we work with are skilled at creating hand-knotted, thicker pile rugs, as well as weaving geometric Moroccan kilims, boucherouite rag rugs, and double-sided handira wedding blankets. The results of this are colorful, eclectic, and bohemian rugs that are perfect for any home — from throw rugs to hallway runners to area living room rugs.
