This rug comes to us from our artisan partners in the Middle Atlas mountains, near Fes. They are experts at weaving these highly geometric, symmetrical flatweave kilims. The rugs feature hundreds of small motifs that have been passed down through the generations and speak to plants, animals, and the natural world around them. The motifs on this rug are set against a black background, which make them pop! This rug would look best against white, or lighter-colored floors. Consider placing it next to your bed, in a bathroom, kitchen, or hang it on the wall!

Thanks to our longstanding relationship with these highly skilled Moroccan artisans, we are able to curate and design authentic rugs and pillows that both preserve the ancient weaving traditions and add a modern touch.
Moroccan rugs are heirloom pieces that age well and are embedded with the living histories of the weavers, the symbols of their tribal regions, and the markings of both traditional and modern rug designs. Each tribal region in Morocco boasts its own weaving style- from modern black and white Beni Ourain rugs in the north, to the colorful and abstract Azilal high pile rugs, to the low pile rugs of the southern Ait Ouaouzguite region. While the process of weaving is the same throughout Morocco, the colors, textures, and patterns vary greatly from one region to the next. The artisans we work with are skilled at creating hand-knotted, thicker pile rugs, as well as weaving geometric Moroccan kilims, boucherouite rag rugs, and double-sided handira wedding blankets. The results of this are colorful, eclectic, and bohemian rugs that are perfect for any home — from throw rugs to hallway runners to area living room rugs.

We also curate bold and eclectic Moroccan rugs that seemingly have no rhyme or reason.
