Many of these rugs were sourced on our buying trips this fall to Morocco. These travels took us from the Middle Atlas to the High Atlas mountains, and everywhere in between. This collection offers a mix of different styles. We're especially excited about some of the rugs that pull from traditional designs but play with modern color ways. We love these experimental weaving styles that result in more artistic rugs. At the same time, we still pay homage to some of the older vintage rugs. These traditional rugs often feature a lower-pile, worn down with age, and muted color palettes.
Moroccan boucherouite rugs, colloquially known as rag rugs, are made from upcycled materials - either strips of cotton or cloth from recycled garments, or colorful tufted cotton. These rugs tend to be lighter than than their woolen counterparts and much easier to clean, making them appealing for homes with small kids and pets.
