This Moroccan boucherouite rug stands out for many different reason. We love the checkered boxes that make up the interior of the rug. They stand out thanks to the dusty rose colored border along three sides of the piece. Finally, we love the different types of cotton fiber that were used to weave this rug. The boucherouite style is known for using upcycled fibers, and in this piece we can see a wide variety of different cotton fibers. In some cases, we can even see bits of fabric peaking through. This is a one of a kind piece that would work well next to a bed, in a bathroom, an entryway, or in a kitchen.

Thanks to our longstanding relationship with these highly skilled Moroccan artisans, we are able to curate and design authentic rugs and pillows that both preserve the ancient weaving traditions and add a modern touch.
Moroccan rugs are heirloom pieces that age well and are embedded with the living histories of the weavers, the symbols of their tribal regions, and the markings of both traditional and modern rug designs. Each tribal region in Morocco boasts its own weaving style- from modern black and white Beni Ourain rugs in the north, to the colorful and abstract Azilal high pile rugs, to the low pile rugs of the southern Ait Ouaouzguite region. While the process of weaving is the same throughout Morocco, the colors, textures, and patterns vary greatly from one region to the next. The artisans we work with are skilled at creating hand-knotted, thicker pile rugs, as well as weaving geometric Moroccan kilims, boucherouite rag rugs, and double-sided handira wedding blankets. The results of this are colorful, eclectic, and bohemian rugs that are perfect for any home — from throw rugs to hallway runners to area living room rugs.
