Bayda Kharita / 40" x 81"
The name, "Kharita" means 'map' in Arabic and these flat-weave Morocca rugs are made to be a map of the desert where they are woven in the south of Morocco / Set against a natural white, undyed sheep's wool, the design of this kilim is clean and captivating. This rug looks best against natural hardwood flooring.
Hamam Kilim / 66" x 88"
This long crimson kilim makes a styled hall runner with its traditional designs and birds woven into the warp and weft / And there's something special about this Moroccan rug too -- the edges are lined with what looks like tribal cave drawings but are actually letters from an alphabet which was created in 2003, for the indigenous languages spoken by the Amazigh (Berber) people of Morocco. Until this alphabet was created, the Amazigh languages were only oral - now with the new alphabet the Amazigh people are not only learning to read and write but also, the women have begun to weave the new letters into their carpets.
