Smithsonian Journeys Lectures on Morocco
Mar 01, 2020
In researching the topics that I would lecture about for the Smithsonian Journeys trips to Morocco, I found dozens of rich archival photos that shed light on many of the momentous occasions and figures that have played a role in Morocco's long history -- from the period of pre-independence, through the reign of Hassan II, and on to current day.
In response to requests to share the lectures, I've posted them here for your enjoyment. Where possible, I included the citation so curious readers can follow up and reference the articles and research reports behind the particular story, image, or infographic.
- Lecture One: God, the Nation, & the King; Unpacking Morocco's Motto
- Lecture Two: Morocco's Political Economy & key external partners
- Lecture Three: From Rebellion in the Rif to the Arab Spring
- Lecture Four: Craft and Weaving among Rural Moroccan Women
