Taxi Sghira/Taxi K'bira... تاكسي صغير / تاكسي كبري

Sghir and k'bir meaning "small" and "large," respectively, refer to the two types of taxis you can take in Morocco. Within a city, you always take a taxi sghir. These are small pintos and change color depending on the city you are in; in Casablanca, they're red, in Rabat they're blue, etc. Once you leave city limits you must take a taxi k'bir.

The big taxis are old white diesel Mercedes Benzs and the drivers are infamous for their speedy ways. With the taxi k'birs, four people ride in the back seat, while two people share the passenger seat. Every person pays for their seat-- if you want more room, you pay for two places, as opposed to just one. The taxi k'birs are great for traveling short distances between nearby towns.
